not a great sunday

for the past two or so years our ward has been growing like crazy. 3 new subdivisions that have brought in what seems like 2 new families per week. at last count, we had 670 members in our ward. until yesterday. our stake realigned its ward boundaries and we lost a good portion of our ward to other, smaller wards. matt and i are still in shock. we lost a counselor in the bishopric, high priest group leader, elders quorum president and counselor, 2 relief society counselors, 1 yw counselor, primary secretary, entire sunday school presidency, executive secretary, ward clerk and NUMEROUS great families that we are just sick about. part of the reason we have loved denver so much has been our ward and having so many fun friends that have filled the "no family around" gap. in a few months, all will be normal, but right now everyone is grieving.
to make matters even a little worse--we were called into the stake presidents office on saturday before conference to get matt's new calling, what we assumed was going to be a simple move up to first counselor in the bishopric. nope--stake young mens second counselor. what!! that's twice now we've gone into a meeting with the stake prepared for what we thought was coming and been totally wrong. oh well, i guess that's life in the church. i just need to be grateful he wasn't put in as a new bishop as thats what the other counselor from our ward got. so, no more walks to the church park and having the luxury of using the bathrooms in the building, isaac will just have to find a tree. no more getting the scoop on new callings early. and no more BISHOPRIC MEETINGS BEFORE OR COUNTING TITHING AFTER CHURCH! hip hip hooray!! not so bad after all :)

Wasn't yesterday a shocker? We anticipated that we probably wouldn't be in your ward, but it still didn't take away the sting of having it official. I didn't realize that all of those people that you listed were in that little chunk that was taken from 7-Hills! It's sad for you, but we have integrate with all those Hampden Hills people. :) And we have to cross Tower to go visiting teaching. Can I survive?

Wow, I can't believe it finally happened. I am happy (for you) that Matt is no longer in the Bishopric...Stake YM shouldn't be too bad. So which ward would I be in??? Parkview? Sorry you lost so many great people. Hopefully you still have the Duncan's.
