not a great sunday

for the past two or so years our ward has been growing like crazy. 3 new subdivisions that have brought in what seems like 2 new families per week. at last count, we had 670 members in our ward. until yesterday. our stake realigned its ward boundaries and we lost a good portion of our ward to other, smaller wards. matt and i are still in shock. we lost a counselor in the bishopric, high priest group leader, elders quorum president and counselor, 2 relief society counselors, 1 yw counselor, primary secretary, entire sunday school presidency, executive secretary, ward clerk and NUMEROUS great families that we are just sick about. part of the reason we have loved denver so much has been our ward and having so many fun friends that have filled the "no family around" gap. in a few months, all will be normal, but right now everyone is grieving.
to make matters even a little worse--we were called into the stake presidents office on saturday before conference to get matt's new calling, what we assumed was going to be a simple move up to first counselor in the bishopric. nope--stake young mens second counselor. what!! that's twice now we've gone into a meeting with the stake prepared for what we thought was coming and been totally wrong. oh well, i guess that's life in the church. i just need to be grateful he wasn't put in as a new bishop as thats what the other counselor from our ward got. so, no more walks to the church park and having the luxury of using the bathrooms in the building, isaac will just have to find a tree. no more getting the scoop on new callings early. and no more BISHOPRIC MEETINGS BEFORE OR COUNTING TITHING AFTER CHURCH! hip hip hooray!! not so bad after all :)

Mal and Mom--!st day of Preschool

With the basement all ready--Mal and Me started our first day of preschool. Notice how far behind I am now on blogging life as it happens. Mallory's "first day of school" picture was taken a week late-nice. Our first week went well. The only child that cried and wanted to go home was Mallory-how convienent. I actually found her wrapped in her "blankie" and curled in a ball on my bedroom floor half way through the first day. She was having issues sharing all "her preschool stuff". We've been roll playing preschool life for weeks--to no avail. Fortunately, being the 3rd, she was easily bribed back down with all the other children. Major catastrophe averted!

I finally got "finished" pictures of the basement. Well, as finshed as it's going to get until we can figure out how to do the ceiling (I know, Jared, that we were supposed to finish the ceiling first--but that's what you get over here, shoty work).
Having the bar gone has opened up a ton of space but at the same time has taken away the same amount of "we have no where to put this so stuff it behind the bar" space. I now am in desperate need of storage solutions. The Sam Adams Memorial wall will one day be filled with shelves and cabinets-but I'm sure we'll get around to it the next time we are in a crunch.
